Catonsville roads for Bike 2 Work Day

Catonsville roads for Bike 2 Work Day

Greetings:

I am trying to determine what roads have washouts on the westside after the flood. We have many convoys originating in Catonsville on B2WD. I know Frederick Rd in both directions is a mess. Does anyone have any information for me?  Please email if you do, chas.murph@gmail.com

I am mostly concerned with roads to BWI area, Patapsco river valley, Gwynns Falls Trail

I plan to ride the as much as possible tomorrow and will update this post

Thanks,
Charlie

Re: Catonsville roads for Bike 2 Work Day

We will still be hosting B2WD but have canceled the convoys to Baltimore city and Columbia.  If you signed up for them, feel free to stop by our pit-stop, get your T-shirt, mingle with cyclists, eat some munchies then 'drive' to work.

ROADS:

Closed: Thistle, Bonnie Branch, New Cut, River Rd, Westchester, Old Frederick Rd (near Frederick rd), Frederick Rd (west of River Rd), Frederick Rd (east of Catonsville between North Bend and Beechfield rds).

Alternative roads for traveling through Patapsco River area: Frederick,  Hilltop, Ilchester, Landing, Montgomery

TRAILS:

Trolley trail #9 Wooden walkway near EC took a hit.  It is rideable, a bit of a slant and may need to be repaired…...again.  Black top at both ends of the wooden walkway is busted up. There is  a large hole at the top end of that is a dangerous section, further up there’s a tree down but passable on side, plus small landslide onto trail passable on side

Trolley #8: good shape, debris at Edmondson rd entrance.
Short line trail sections Mellor, Spring Grove and Paradise  are passable with some washouts.

Gwynns Falls Trail: Franklintown RD to Rt 40/Edmondson Ave, passable and very very very muddy especially near Leon Day Park.  Damage to trail in Leakin Park ,near bridge and bathrooms, use extreme caution..

Gwynns Falls Trail : South of Frederick Rd is a mess practically impassable.

Bonnie Branch is open to cyclists. There are road closure signs but we are allowed to go through.  I went while many trucks and workers were there and they waved me through. I wouldn't take a recreational peloton through but fine for a solo. Lots of damage, go slowly.
