I have biked through the new circle several times since its completion, and it works very well. The intersection is definitely safer and much more easily navigated, especially when turning left off of Tufton.

Computer with automatic start/stop

I want to install an older bicycle computer on a spare bike.  I have the base mount and the wiring with the cadence and speed pickups, but I need the computer unit.  The Cateye computer that fits this base mount has three contacts and has automatic start/stop function.  If you have one of them taking up space I have a use for it.  Call me at 410-628-6297

Vintage English bike in need of maintenence

Contact Brain Laird at the REI bike shop on Aylesbury Road in Timonium.  410-252-5920.

Yesterday, Nov. 3rd, I talked with a friend who lives near the top of Shepperd Road.  He said they are installing steel pipes in the road bed to shore the road and the stream bank where the road is close to the stream.  Once the road bed is stabilized, they will pave the road.  It's going to be a while until they get to that point.  Shepperd Road is open from Gerting Road and J M Pearce Road up to Troyer Road.

A vehicle lost a large part of a load of gravel and stone at the corner of Priceville Rd., about a week ago, where the road goes right at the top of the short, steep section just before the Quaker Meeting House.  It covers all of the road for about fifty feet.  As you come up the hill, you don't see it until you are on it.  Lack of traction and one to two inch stones could take you down.

If you are coming from Thornton Mill and making the left the stone now covers the entire intersection.  Yesterday, 9/24, I came that way and it was not possible to avoid the stones.  Several times the bike kicked sideways as I hit stones, even at a very slow speed.  The next time I ride out of Sparks I will stop after the ride and sweep the intersection.

To add to the road issues you should be aware that a vehicle has lost a large part of a load of gravel and stone at the corner of Priceville Rd. where the road goes right at the top of the short, steep section just before the Quaker Meeting House.  It covers most of the road for about fifty feet.  As you come up the hill, you don't see it until you are on it.  Lack of traction and one to two inch stones could take you down.

Resurfacing of two roads in Northeastern Baltimore County
Forum: Road Problems

Just a 'heads up" for anyone cycling in Northeastern Baltimore County.  Hutchins Mill Rd. has been tar/chipped (heavily chipped) for the entire length and Shepperd Rd. is 'under construction'.  They are removing some surface areas, patching, preparing to install drain pipes and preparing to pave.  There are delays and occasional one way traffic.  It looks like the work will continue for quite a while.

I checked to see if they have a web site, and they do (Weekender Country Diner).  The photos don't portray a place to stop for a break while on a bike ride.
