Remembering Lee Fleishman

Lee Fleishman was a regular on the Seniors rides and he and his wife, Ruth, were active cyclists and regular volunteers at various BBC events.  Lee also served as a volunteer ranger on the Northern Central Trail, as seen in the photo.  This photo was taken at the dedication of the drinking fountain, etc., at the Paper Mill Road entrance to the trail Sept. 16, 2005.  The BBC was a major contributor to the cost of the well and drinking fountain.  In the photo Lee Fleishman is flanked by Frank Anders on the left and Russell Loy on the right.

BBC Tandem Riders Take on Havre de Grace

Seven couples came out for the Havre de Grace - Delta PA "Coffee-Coffee" CRABS ride on September 21, 2014.  All enjoyed a nice lunch in Delta.  And, even better, after the ride some stayed in Havre de Grace for the Lockhouse Museum Beer & Oyster Festival.  You just can't find a better way to refuel and rehydrate after a 50 miler in and out of (read:  Up and Down!)  the Susquehanna River Basin.

Weigh in on the 2015 Bicycle Master Plan

Baltimore City released a draft Bicycle Master Plan for 2015 that supports a range of engineered bicycle facilities, including but not limited to cycletracks, bike boulevards, and sharrows. The plan was reviewed by the BBC Executive Board and fully supported. More recently Bikemore proposed an amendment to the plan that has sparked controversy. The amendment requires using a cycletrack as the default bike lane when the average speed of vehicular travel exceeds 25 mph. A cycletrack is a bike lane that is separated from the travel lane by a physical barrier, as seen in the photo above taken in Washington, D.C. Please see the BBC Advocacy Forum for further details related to the Master Plan and Bikemore's amendment. All interested parties should review the plan on the Baltimore City website and make comments before February 20, 2015.
