The ride start is at the I70 Park & Ride on Route#66N, about fifty minutes from the Baltimore beltway (same distance from the beltway as Thurmont). This is a variation of the Gold Fish Pond ride from the BBCWashingtonCounty weekend. One of our favorite rides with low-traffic, mostly rolling terrain (with some hills - 2300' gain), country setting, and breath-taking views from Edgemont and CrystalFalls roads. We feel it is worth the drive.
Our normal rest stop, Misty Mountain Creamery does not open until 1pm on Sunday, so the rest stop options are; the Dixie Diner, the Smithsburg Market, or SmithsburgLionsPark all at mile 23/29. Cue sheets will be available for a 39 and 33 mile option - the first 20 miles are the same for both. No restroom at the ride start, however, there is a Rest Area on I70 a few miles before the exit to the ride start. Recommend two water bottles.
Dir: From the Baltimore beltway; Take I70W (50min) to Exit #35 (Smithsburg/Boonesboro), right on Route 66 (Mapleville Rd), then 1/2 block north to the P&R on the right. Any questions call cell; 240-308-3648.
