Chesapeake City Ride March 13
Hi
Chesapeake City is 50 miles from Essex via Route 40N to Route 213S
If this ride interests you and would like to ride up there with me;contact me at

. I can take two at this time.
The ride starts at 9 am at the Bethel Road parking lot.
Directions are with the ride date and description in the schedule.
$5.00 to cross either bridge over the Susquehanna River.
THE coordinates for the ride start are N39deg31.5min; W75deg3min
The main ride is 25 miles with a lunch stop at Hacks Point General store at the 16-milepoint.
There is a 34-mile cue sheet available. This extra mileage splits the 25 mile and joins back up a the Hacks Point General Store.
The reason for the early start on that day is because Chesapeake City has their St. Patties Day parade beginning at noon and we should be back in time to see all or some of it.

Re: Chesapeake City Ride March 13
Maybe I typed inthe wrong coordinates.
I rechecked my GPS way point And I read
N39deg 31min,30sec
W075deg,48min 17 sec
These should put you a the parking lot.
The boat launch is just on the southside (Left turn) of the "T" intersection. The parking lot is a 1/10th of mile north Right turn)of the intersection.
Once you get across the Rt 213 bridge over the C&D canal, Make a first right turn then follow the signs to the C&D museum. Instead of a left towards the entrance at the "T" make a right turn.

iodaniell wrote:For the boat launch area off of RT 286 (1198? Bethel Rd), Chesapeake City, MD 21915), I get coordinates (approximate):
39°31'33.5"N, 75°48'21.6"W
You can copy/paste those coordinates into Google Maps or www.gmap-pedometer.com and it should show you the map point. At the least, the map should be centered on that coordinate when you zoom in.

I suggest that postings to the Forum use the simplest format for longitude and latitude - signed decimal pairs to 4 places.
39.5259, -75.8060 for the above boat ramp
Entries of such pairs into Google and other online maps will give best results.
==>Ride Start
The use of degree, minute, second characters are difficult for most keyboards.

That may be true, but a copy and paste (no typing required) of the coordinates that I provided works--I always test before making an ass out of myself by posting something that won't work. It worked in both of the mapping software that I stated.
What's more, if you paste the same coordinates into the address line of Firefox and press the [Enter] key or left-click the green arrow on the far right of the address bar, it'll show you the Google Map for those coordinates.

Chesapeake City Bethel Road Picnic area.
N39°31.5’; W75°48.3
Is that better, Admin? Cut & paste from MS publisher.
I don't use GOOGLE for my maps.
I use MS Streets and Trips.
Learning to use Delorme Earthmate software.
