Biking Safety Tips

The Baltimore Bicycling Club sponsors an Instructional Ride Program to anyone over 16 years old who is interested in learning basic skills, road repairs and in improving as a cyclist. This program is aimed at helping riders develop group riding skills and to comfortably participate in club rides.

Bicycling Street Smarts -- The Charles River Wheelmen of Massachusetts (http://www.crw.org) recently featured an article on tuning up your cycling skills for the upcoming riding season. Among the many resources that they recommended was an on-line “booklet” that offers some great tips for people at all skill levels. “Bicycling Street Smarts” from John Allen “covers all the bases in a short and easy to read format.” Pass this great resource on to your members by directing them to http://www.bikexprt.com/streetsmarts/index.htm.

How to Not Get Hit by Cars - Important Lessons on Bicycle Safety -- Michael Bluejay

This page shows you real ways you can get hit and real ways to avoid them. This is a far cry from normal bicycle safety guides, which usually tell you little more than to wear your helmet and to follow the law. But consider this for a moment: Wearing a helmet will do absolutely nothing to prevent you from getting hit by a car! Sure, helmets might help you if you get hit, and it's a good idea to wear one, but your #1 goal should be to avoid getting hit in the first place. To read more Click HERE!
