This is a beautiful but challenging ride. Great views, fall foliage, and lots of climbing. We start at the northern entrance to Skyline Drive in Front Royal and continue to the first exit at Thornton Gap. Then we descent down US 211/Lee Highway west to Luray. After riding through Luray, we climb up Massanutten Mt. to Kennedy Peak. Following this climb, we have a long descent through Fort Valley on Massanutten Mt. back to Front Royal. If I know that riders are behind me, I will wait at the Dickey Ridge visitor center, the Elk Wallow rest stop, the exit from Skyline drive at Thornton Gap, the 7-Eleven rest stop in Luray, and at Kennedy Peak at the top of Massanutten Mt. NOTE: there is an $8.00 entrance fee to Skyline Drive. ALSO NOTE: there are no rest stops in the last half of the ride (41.5 miles), so be sure to leave the Luray 7-Eleven with full water bottles.

Though the nominal start time is 9:15AM, I suggest that riders start off as soon as they have signed in and gotten cue sheets.
