Almost 80 km is not as long nor as hard as the true 2026 Giro d'Italia and we won't get the crowds and the sag and the cycling press.
The route traces the outline of the Italian Peninsula on the roads of Baltimore County. We start from Brindisi riding west to the boot tip of Calabria then north by Napoli, Roma, and Genoa. We ride across the Italian Alps from Torino over the Lago Maggori (Prettyboy) and Lugano to Veneto. We roll south along the Adriatic to our return at Brindisi. Two snack stops (sorry not proper cafes) - Torino (Hampstead JiffyMart) and Veneto (High's Rayville). 4100 Ft.
Download is only Anticyclonic (Clockwise) direction. Generally the AntiCyclonic direction (clockwise) seems easier even with a start up Ivy Hill. Ivy Hill starts should include a warning to 'Not Drop Chain or Water Bottles' at bottom of Ivy Hill second climb!!!
