Beware of Hogweed!
Tis the season for roadside stops, but be aware of the vegetation alongside the road. The plant pictured here in this photo from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is known as giant hogweed, and it can cause a rash worse than poison ivy. BBC member Lydia Cunningham shares her experiences with it in this article. If you’ve seen giant hogweed in Maryland, please contact the Plant Protection and Weed Management Section of the Maryland Department of Agriculture at (410) 841-5920
2016 BBC Spring Social

BBC 2015 Annual Awards Celebration
The Annual Awards Event was held at Oregon Ridge Lodge on November 21, 2015. This event honors our dedicated volunteers who make the BBC the great club it is. The ambiance of a cozy fire in a rustic ski lodge, combined with a delicious dinner, added a festive touch to the evening. Please see the Awards Program for names of recognized club members, and don't miss the photos of the celebration captured by Gloria Epstein.
Rolling Along with Team BBC

A BBC Autumn Adventure
A clear, crisp, autumn morning found a group of happy cyclists in Hagerstown, MD, at Gordon’s, a rustic country store, founded in 1923 and still family-run. Participants of Rich Burns’ Washington County Getaway enjoyed this “gem” and many more as part of this year’s weekend event (Oct. 9-11th). Read the article for more details.
2015 Weekend in Lancaster
The coordinators of the Weekend in Lancaster, Mike & Evie Reinsel and Carol & Walt Russell, enjoy a photo op in the hospitality room at the Millstream Country Inn, where drinks, snacks and desserts were flowing at happy hours each day. Read the article to find out about their cycling adventures through the Amish heartland.
Montreal Summer Tandem Tour
Evie and Mike Reinsel enjoy a peaceful, lake-side stop on their summer tandem tour, from the Adirondacks (New York) to Montreal. Water views were everywhere as they cycled along Indian, Schroon, and Tupper Lakes (NY), Lake Champlain (NY, VT), and the St. Lawrence River (Montreal, Quebec). Read their article to learn more about their trip.
