Wrapping up a tradition!
This year’s Civil War Century event will be our “swan song” as we retire this classic event after 26 years. After a great deal of reflection—and with registration continuing to decline—we have made the difficult decision that 2026 will be the final year of the Civil War Century. Be ready to share your favorite memories of this challenge ride. Was it achieving a personal best when the weather was perfect, or was it the time you powered through the soaking of a mid-ride shower? Even though the “fat lady singer” is in the wings waiting for the cue before the curtain closes, we are deeply committed to making this last Civil War Century a truly special experience. We are looking forward to hosting an event that honors everything this ride has meant to so many people.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for everything BBC club members have poured into the CWC over the years. Your dedication, creativity, and care have shaped an event that riders cherish. You should feel incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together.
-Larry Kenney & Cindy Wyatt
The BBC Executive Board should like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Larry and Cindy and all Club volunteers for their admirable and sacrificial efforts over the many years running this remarkable and popular event. Unfortunately, current market trends and forces as well as escalating costs and insurmountable obstacles have made events like this one no longer sustainable despite all possible attempts and efforts to promote them among the wider cycling community. Farewell to good memories!

Chestertown Weekend 2026

Despite the raindrops, smiles dominated the event. Thanks to the many cyclists who took part in the Baltimore Bicycle Club’s 42nd annual Chestertown Weekend! Some cyclists rode all four days, not letting the precipitation slow them down.
16 & Over Fun at the BBC Picnic July 19, 2026

The 16 & Over Picnic 2026 Ride Leader Bob Rohlfing called the 14 riders to order at 7:45 am for an orientation before departure. Mostly Bob said to have fun and be careful before the group rolled out from Taneytown Memorial Park and rode north on Harney Road. The route was the Russell's Three Taverns 59 miler. The riders found a slight headwind outbound which was negated by the excellent rotating pulls by Mike, Phil, Matt, Alvaro, Paul, Jeff and others.

Thank you, Gene Bayer!
Gene Bayer has been serving our club in many capacities for many years. More recently, he served on the BBC Executive Board as Member-at-Large until his term expired, meanwhile he has been managing our membership for several years. After so much dedicated work in maintaining our membership accurate and viable, Gene has requested recently to be relieved from his duties if another member could be identified to replace him. After much search we were able to identify one of our valuable members to carry on in with that role. We thank Gene for his hard work, pleasant communication style, and dedication to his duties. I am also pleased to announce that Ms. Jerre Taylor has agreed to be the administrator of membership for our club. Please join me in thanking and welcoming Jerre to this important role. Please direct all your inquiries about membership to her during this transition.
