Tomorrow's Ramble is ON (as usual)

Tomorrow's Ramble is ON (as usual)

Well, I've obviously jinxed our weather by writing that I wanted clear skies for this ride. Probably won't happen for tomorrow. Here's the drill: RAIN OR SHINE, THE RIDE HAPPENS.

I will head out of Canton at 8:10am hoping for the best and ready for the worst. I seriously doubt we'll have rain all day, but likely to get some strong showers at some point. The temps are high enough that we probably don't need to be worried about getting cold, but you might want to bring a jacket just in case. Fenders are real nice, if you've got them. (my wet-weather bike is still not back on the road so apologies to anyone riding behind me) Running lights and bright colors are important for visibility. If it's getting miserable by lunch we can decide as a group whether to short cut.   -Bob

What's so good about riding in the rain?
1. Keeps the summer temps down.
2. Natural colors always look more intense in the rain.
3. Bragging rights on the BBC forum. ;-)

Bob,
An 'overcast' day will be a nice respite for me. I spent most of last week baking in the sun on my Bro-in-laws roof.
(I'm planning on leaving home @ 6:30-If it's NOT raining)

They talk of days for which they sit and wait
When many miles shall pass 'neath their wheels

Talk an' songs of rides of charm an' grace
Whose sounds caress my ear

But nary a word could I relate
How excited I've become
As the time to Ramble on draws near

Re: Tomorrow's Ramble is ON (as usual)

Bob, thanks for leading this ride.  It was a good ride made better after lunch when the cold front slipped over the region.

It was nice to see Carl, Dave and Charlie, too!

Got no time for spreadin' roots
the time had come to be gone
And so we turned our cranks thousand o' times
twas time to Ramble on

I'm gonna ramble on
gonna sing my song
gonna work my way round the world

Mine's a tale that can't be told
'bout a city I hold dear
Oh, how I'd loved her so
But that was years ago
when I was young and bold
and Willie Don was Mayor

I guess I'll keep on ramblin',
I'm gonna sing my song
Do,do,do,do, now baby

Re: Tomorrow's Ramble is ON (as usual)

Great day folks;  Thanks Bob, excellent cue as always.  Hopefully I won't lose it next time.  Thanks as well to Dave and Bob for the electrolytes, never would have made it home.  Carl's and my ride to the west side went well but the sun was nasty.  We couldn't see in front of us which meant the cars couldn't see us either.  I ended with 126 for the day,
Carl: did you get your highest mileage ride? nice poem btw.
A side note: no one drove to the ride start!!

And, more importantly, no one was needing to be driven home!

Charlie,
Thanks again, for picking a return / detour route that allowed us / me to get home before dark(8:40).Though,it was probably more.I'm guesstimating my mileage for the day @ 130 miles. One thing I know for sure.Time wise -14hrs,it was my longest (road) ride yet.(too long actually:-)

These wheels gotta keep on turnin'
Too proud to call a sag
though my muscles are achin' an' burnin'
So we're Rollin',Rollin',Rollin',Rollin'
Rollin' back to my home above the river

Well, congrats to those who set records yesterday!  You sure you guys don't want to ride to OCMD with me in July?

Bob already has dibs, though, on the other bed in my room at the Sea Bay Hotel.
