Al Barrett's passing

Al Barrett's passing

We are so saddened by the loss of our dear friend, Al Barrett, who passed away on Tuesday, March 27, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, from complications following surgery.  He was 74 years old. Al was a cyclist to his core and was a club member for over 35 years--participating in rides, events, weekend trips, and club socials. He was the Kent County Spring Fling's biggest fan, attending every event but one--34 of 35--over the decades, even the first one held at Great Oaks Landing. Al just loved being active and also enjoyed hiking and skiing. He was a nice guy with a big, warm smile and a great sense of humor. Al was a wonderful storyteller and historian--who loved reminiscing about the club's "glory days." He was liked by everyone who knew him. Al will be greatly missed.
The viewing (9-11am) and funeral (11am) will be on Monday, April 2, at the Harry Witzke Family Funeral Home on 4112 Old Columbia Pike in Ellicott City, Maryland.

Re: Al Barrett's passing

Al Joined the BBC in 1968, so he was one of the early and probably charter members. About 2 months ago he was at a meeting where we talking about plans for the 50th anniversary of BBC. Great guy, he will be missed.
