@ Diane et al. -- Are you still interested in this route? Because it's still a dream of mine. I have the camping equipment, etc., just looking for some other adventurers.

Hi Diane! I'm interested in cycling the GAP, too. Hope to see you at the REI talk this month.

Oct/Nov 2011 mag mentions BBC
Category: Social

Well, gang, BBC gets a shout out in the Oct/Nov 2011 issue of Adventure Cycling on p.25. In an article on cycling the route of Lee's retreat from Gettysburg, the author advises "when to ride": the CWC is a "fantastically fun way to visit Gettysburg -- a one day ride offered by the BBC each September. 1,600 fellow  riders will keep your spirits up".... Nicely said, that.

Many thanks to the CWC volunteers

Dwayne, thanks for starting this thread. The CWC was amazing! At the final rest stop (Barlow), with only 14-18 miles left, here's what riders had to say. Over and over, they voiced their thanks for such a well run event: "the course markings were excellent"; "all we had to do was follow the orange bike symbol"; "outstanding organization by the planners"; "you just don't find an event of this type that is run so well"; "the food is super" (and this was only at the rest stops, with the best yet to come); "a really friendly group of cyclists -- and that is unusual"; "I can't believe how much fun everyone has made this"./ So, BBC members, good on ya. All your hard work was clearly valued and appreciated -- and how often do we ever hear that in our lives?

Overnight bike&cabin
Category: Social

Any women interested in a bike overnight/S24Ot at Patapsco State Park? A cabin sleeps 4 (2 bunks; 2 beds) plus a tent on site. Cost of $46.75 would be a pittance divided by a group, and you can travel ultralite by ditching the tent! Here is the article in Adventure Cycling that started S24Os: http://www.adventurecycling.org/resourc … _S240s.pdf    And here's a link to the park website with photo of cabin site (electric; heat; fire ring w/grill; picnic table; communal showers; H2O): http://reservations.dnr.state.md.us/cam … kId=380515
