A perfect weather day for the Flatlands Tour. Thanks to Ken Philhower for helping to keep this BBC tradition going stong. I did the metric century at 14.4 mph - a satisfying result for this 10-12 rider.

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=4222889780349&set=o.2224775619&type=1&ref=nfOn my first ride lead, 16 riders signed in and most of them stayed with me on a pleasant ride to Galesville today. We didn't feel the heat or the winds until the ride was almost over. The route has a lot of road-side trees for shade and wind breaks. I was impressed that the ride attracted riders from diverse locations, a few from as far as Arlington, Virginia. Folks mugged up for a pic at the waterside break at Galesville.

Looking for advice on trailer hitch and bike rack for new Prius
Category: Social

I am planning to take delivery of a new Toyota Prius shortly and am looking for advice about transporting my bike. I have convinced myself that I would like to bolt a trailer hitch on the car and use a hitch mounted bike carrier. I have seen a number of web sites advertising relatively inexpensive kits that are tailored for each car model. Does anybody have experience about trailer hitch mounting to share? Also any advice about hitch mounted bike racks would be welcome.

Thanks for the 'clearing the cache' tip. By that, I assume that you meant clearing the histoy and temporary internet files. I did that, and then restarted the browser, and saw no change in behavior. Any other tips would be welcome, but don't need anyone to break a sweat over this minor issue.

Thanks to Bill Blankenship for getting us 10-12 riders out on a great weather day to enjoy some great scenerey. I let myself get challenged by some faster riders in the front and finished with a 14.0 mph average.

Not a big deal but just wondering why when I login on my Win 7 PC, I get an error message of 'invalid token' on a blank page, but then if I navigate back, I am logged in for the current session. However, if I close the browser, I have to log back in every time. I noticed that if I use my Win XP PC, my login identity will be saved and I don't have to login each time. I have not seen this on any other web site.

Kudos to Gloria for getting many of us out on a cool day for a pleasant ride with a pancakes in the middle. When I got home, I found that I was missing my small frame pump - I may have put it on my car trunk and absent mindedly left without actually putting it in the car. If anyone found it in the South Carrol HS parking lot, please reply.

Anybody have climbing data?

I had a good time today on the Eat a Peach challange ride today. Great weather for mid-August. Just curious if any BBCers with technical equipment rode the metric century and recorded the amount of climbing. I took longer than I should have because I had to slip into the granny gears more than once. But the descents were sweet on the backside!

Thanks for a great event today. It looks like we voted with our feet (or bikes) to support a great location. I did the 47 mile ride and appreciated the gentle terrain and low traffic routes for a predictable return time - in time for lunch. The extra loops through the Gettysburg battlefields were a real bonus. I hope we make this location our new tradition! The 'destination' location was a great opportunity to get away from the all too familiar well trod routes in my own backyard.
