Want bragging rights?  Two words.  Foxey Coxey.

Uh, no thanks. 18% is my limit, I think.

Its not about the the grade, its "prying the triple from the cold dead hands", wait what triple?!?

Yeah, what triple? It was a nice enough day that I was riding my pride and joy, which is a compact. The 34x27 was just barely enough for me to keep turning over the cranks....

Does anyone happen to know the grade of that devilishly steep section of Ivy Hill Road? I need the numbers for bragging rights.  current/lol

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for our area: … p;etn=0006

Wind gusts could be hitting 45-50 mph this afternoon, with sustained winds of 25-30 mph.

I am not canceling the ride from Mt. View MS this morning, but please be extremely careful this afternoon and consider cutting long rides short.

Any road problems on "Put Your Heart Into It" route?
Forum: Road Problems

Please  note also that there is a bridge closed somewhere on Deer Park Road (the same one?)

It looks just likely enough that we would  be wet and miserable for at least part of today's long ride that I'm wussing out and canceling.  Dang.  current/sad

Does anyone know if Sparks Road is still closed?

More information on the equestrian events and related issues:

Thanks for posting this FYI. My husband is a member of BBC and bikes regularly in Baltimore County. I am an equestrian. Just an additional FYI - I'd appreciate it if you could mention in your post that horses are easily spooked by bikes because they don't hear the bikes. It is great when bicyclist call out to horse riders as they approach. Something simple - like passing or hello - so that we are alerted. This is especially necessary on Mantua Mill Road where bikers and riders often meet (extra necessary near the where the road makes a 90 degree turn and on the bridge).

On April 24th - Md Hunt Cup - Tufton Avenue will be closed to all traffic.

Sorry about the cyclist killed on Butler Rd. We often cross it and the drivers go way too fast.

According to the Valleys Planning Council's newsletter, there are some horse events coming up the next two weekends. There may be road closures, and there will certainly be lots of horses and riders in northern Baltimore County:

Saturday, April 17: Grand National Steeplechase
Saturday, April 24: Maryland Hunt Cup
Sunday, April25: Maryland Junior Hunt Cup

Please ride especially cautiously and courteously on these days

Thanks to Ed Cahill for an absolutely gorgeous ride. Does anyone know the elevation gain?
