Photo Contest - Week 6 (or so)
Photo Contest - Week 6 (or so)
We had a fine ride today. The day dawned sunny and cold so I had to dig out the winter gear. I drove up to Oregon Ridge instead of my usual ride in and I found no one there!
I set up and waited and was rewarded as the usual crew drove and rolled in (minus a few members and on the dot of 9:30). Wind was a constant 5-10 mph out of the north as we pushed off up Cuba. By Butler we had warmed up and we headed east on Stringtown and the warm flats of Cold Bottom. We made a nice stop at Monkton Station before the Shepperd climb and the roll over Troyer. Norrisville finally put the wind behind us and we flew on Old York back south and west.
It looks like continuing road work on Glencoe Rd. The Wednesday Night Galen Report talked of fresh gravel cuts across Glencoe on the descent. Not a problem for us as we rode Sparks Rd over to York Rd.
We stopped too long for coffee and tamales in honor of Renee's birthday (but without Renee) at the Pit Stop. Very relaxing outside in the sun. Then it was back on the bikes to complete the climb up York and Quaker Bottom. The day had really warmed up by our return to Oregon Ridge. Another perfect bike ride
Wait you say, "why do we have a ride report instead of a contest?!?"
Well we have a contest, another chicken contest....
Where is this Chicken and What Road is it about to cross?
Best response wins a boule of Pain aux Noix. This loaf of Nut Bread will be baked by Steve himself from the recipe from Bernard Clayton Jr. who spent the year of 1965 bicycling in France collecting bread recipes.

You MUST Enter To WIN![]()
BBC Riders, please do not send your entries via email to Steve.
You must post them on this forum to be eligible.
(Winner chosen by the usual manner - at random. However slower responders may be dropped, faster responders ought to regroup at hill tops, and points will be awarded for good pulls.)
This contest will close 9:00 am on April Fools Day, 1 April 2012.

Re: Photo Contest - Week 6 (or so)
The location is no doubt in Harford County, possibly on Old York Road. But the content of the photo is more interesting. I think I see three "chicks" and a ... buzzard. Does the boule come sliced?

Re: Photo Contest - Week 6 (or so)
The chicken is about to cross Troyer Road, just southwest of RT 23 (Norrisville Rd) about 1/8 mile or so which is in Harford Co just north of the Balto/Harford County line. It is on the right side of the road heading south about 1/2 miles before Hunters Mill Rd. It is in front of the first big farm with the big silos or grain mills or whatever they are.

Re: Photo Contest - Week 6 (or so)
On today's April Fools Day Ride, the intrepid Foolish Riders of A Metric Kilo Bubble zoomed past this Chicken.
We were at mile 16.5 on the cuesheet Scavenger Sees Relics and heading Southeast on Ready Rotor after crossing a busy Drivers Roll In.

Re: Photo Contest - Week 6 (or so)
I was on this ride so I knew where the chicken was. Wouldn't that be cheating? I knew where the other chicken was also.
Thanks to Steve for arranging the amusing ride today. We missed the group but didn't miss any turns. I recommend the key lime tart at Snickerdoodles.
