CAUTION - Cuba Rd northern wood decked bridge

CAUTION - Cuba Rd northern wood decked bridge

CAUTION - Cuba Rd North wood decked bridge is narrowed with dangerous added longitudinal planking.  The planking will fit most cars/trucks but could trap a cyclist.  Likely extremely dangerous when wet.  There is little visible warning due to road bend when approaching southbound.  A cyclist will have nowhere to go if encountering a car on the bridge.

Re: CAUTION - Cuba Rd northern wood decked bridge

Response to my email to Baltimore County Engineering concerning the Cuba bridge.

Thank you for your concerns regarding our Bridge No. B-0029 on Cuba Road over Western Run.   Interim measures (new/temporary deck boards and barrels along the sides of the bridge to keep traffic in the center of the bridge) were necessary due to some loose and deteriorated deck members.  We have begun design for replacing the deck but do not have a date for construction at this time.  We will investigate placing additional warning signs at the bridge as well as trimming some of the vegetation to improve sight lines.

Should you have any further questions please advise us.

Re: CAUTION - Cuba Rd northern wood decked bridge

Additional planking has been added to the bridge, doubling the width of the parallel planks.  This means the center original decking is much narrower.  Use caution, especially when wet.
