What a great day for a ride !
I had 3 folks show up for the 'Put your heart into it ride'.A very impressive finish by Mike & Greg ,I must say. They put the hammer down on the 2nd half of the ride.Scott & I gave chase & tried to @ least catch a glimpse of them. But it wasn't happening, they were G-O-N-E !

Had to stop @ Alpha ridge park for a nature break ,then I blew up shortly thereafter. Great day / ride regardless. THANKS !, again , gentlemen:-)
Ah, look at me, I'm in tatters,
I've been battered, what does it matter
Does it matter, uh-huh
Does it matter, uh-huh, I'm a shattered

Don't you know my heart rate is going up, up, up, up, up
Trying to chase em' down ,but it's tough, tough, tough, tough, tough!
What a mess , I'm in tatters, I've been shattered
My quads  been battered, splattered all over the macadam

I'm a shattered
Shattered ,Shattered
What-say ?
Shattered … re=related

I certainly do NOT wish to deter anyone from joining Ms. Goldstein's century ride.I'm adding this ride as an option for those , like myself , who cannot devote a full day (or wish) to ride 100 + miles.

Sun. June 5

"Put your heart into it!" 60 mile hilly ride - cue can be found in library (50+ mi. Howard county)

Start : EFS Enchanted Forest S. C. Ellicott city

Time : 9 am   Lunch: midway @ royal farms store with tables & restrooms

After a 4 year hiatus , I  recently  returned to Colorado & Utah for a mtn biking vacation.Whereupon , I rather abruptly discovered that I can't 'shred it' like I used to ! The climbs seemed much more physically challenging & the downhills / drops etc.seemed more intimidating.I found myself walking  sections of trails that I used to ride w/o hesitation , my mind polluted with rational thoughts such as , how much worse the 2000 mile drive home would be with a broken collar bone /wrist / leg / separated shoulder etc.

A few days & a few falls later, I started to get a bit depressed as I began thinking perhaps I'm getting 'too old' for this.Perhaps , I should take up playing Bocce & envisioned myself hanging out @ the local Mc d's @  6am nursing a cup 'o Joe whilst engaged in a lively game of checkers with the fellas.

Then ,during one one of my signature solo - I think- I  have enough water -can make it / find my way back- before dark -epic -9 hour - desert - death march rides ,I had an epiphany.Perhaps, I should simply stop mourning that which I can no longer accomplish & be more thankful for what I'm able to accomplish.

I hope you will join me on Sun.'s ride to bid a fond farewell to big ring mashing, trail thrashing, Carl & bear witness as I embrace geezer-hood whilst conquering hills with my new compact crankset :-)

Didn't have any takers for this ride.

However, I did meet up a few days later with Brian & Kerry for a ride on the world famous Slickrock trail.Brian was kind enough to put together a short video & post it on youtube. You can't tell from the video but it was sooooooooo windy that day ,it nearly blew us over a few times.

I have never ridden with the BBC before but will definitely do so again.  This was a 41 mile, pretty flat ride, some rolling hills.  However, I was about less than 10 miles in and got a flat.  I changed it (with the help of Jayne and her spare tube) and then pinched it getting the tire back on.  By this time, both Bill and Mark had pulled up.  Mark offered to try and Bill supplied another tube.  Mark got it changed fast and IT HELD!  It was awesome.  I haven't ridden that long in years and was at the back of the pack but Bill and Mark kept tabs on me and made sure I was doing ok.  I had a great time due to Jayne, Bill and Mark.  Thanks, guys!  I would have never made it without you!

9:30 am start from old MARC train lot @ 5700 Railroad Ave. Elkridge
Mostly flat - 60 mile ride to Davidsonville - lunch midway @ deli with tables & restroom
Listed as 13/15 pace but all are welcome ! (ride leader will most likely exceed 13/15 pace:-)

Porcupine rim trail ride - Fri May 13th

I waited patiently for the Lord
He inclined and heard my cry
He brought me up out of the pit
Out of the miry clay

He set my feet upon a rock
And made my footsteps firm
Many will see
Many will see and fear
