Does anyone have additional information, beyond what has already been made public, about the driver of the car and/or the circumstances of the accident as well as the exact location of the accident?

Bike Cases
Category: Social

For your information.....

I was the BBC member (officer) who originally bought the club's first three bike cases, and my name has continued to be the contact name for that vendor.

Today I received a post card from Crate Works that the owner, do to health issues, is closing his company as of the end of Sept., 2019.  They are offering the remaining inventory at reduced prices.  Orders for just replacement parts must be placed by phone or email as the web site does not list replacement parts.

Orders for complete cases can be placed through the web site.  The web site is www.crateworks.com.  The phone number is 800-934-5214.

The post card lists the Pro XL-C case (which is what the BBC has) for $189.  There is one other style case as well.

Very Serious Hole in the Road
Forum: Road Problems

Thursday 6/27/2019  Going down Glencoe Road, typically at high speed, as you bear right around the very last curve before the straight stretch to the bridge, in the road surface right where you would normally be riding, there is a deep hole about twelve inch across that if you hit it you will surely go down.  You can't see it until the last second because it's around the curve and there are patches of shade on the road.  I saw it in time and just missed it.  I will report it to the county road maintenance people for repair.

Frank's Passing
Category: Social

I remembered that I took a photo of Frank and Kathy as they returned from their ride at the Civil War Century in 2005.  Judy and I were leading the parking detail that year and I happened to be in the right place at the right time; dumb luck.  I located the photo and asked Will to add it to the BBC home page with a portion of the email that I copied from the post about Frank.  Will did a great job of incorporating both the photo and the message on the web site.  Frank was friend of mine, and a real asset to the BBC.  He, and Kathy, did a lot through their leadership to make the club successful.

This Saturday morning there will be a real estate auction on Glencoe Road, just east of the NCR Trail.  Expect lots of traffic and cars parked everywhere.  Be forewarned if you plan to bike up or down Glencoe Road on Saturday morning, October 6th.  The sale is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.  There are five parcels being auctioned separately or in total, so it may take a while.

The Glencoe Roads
Forum: Road Problems

This morning, Friday Sept. 21, I observed that Lower Glencoe Road was milled and Upper Glencoe Road was blocked off, and I could see that Upper Glencoe at York Road was already paved.  Obviously, I don't know the condition of the rest of Lower and Upper Glencoe, but it is either not open or very difficult to ride on.  Sparks Road would be the logical option.

I have biked through the new circle several times since its completion, and it works very well. The intersection is definitely safer and much more easily navigated, especially when turning left off of Tufton.
