Catonsville - Hampstead Century: 8:00am

I'll be riding and mapping out a new route out to Hampstead tomorrow. Be on this inaugural ride (it’s a 5.5 on the Tabb scale). Meet at the Catonsville Sam's Bagels on Frederick Rd. @ 8:00. Should be back by 2:30-3:00. Any takers?

4 Reservoirs Rando Ramble: I visited only 3 of the 4 reservoirs on Bob's 102 miler as I met the group in Woodlawn. I did ride on new roads in Carroll Co.- and I thought that after 20 years of riding that I'd ridden all of them. At the half-way,Rayville store lunch stop I split off from the group with Tiffany.
We made good time to the Jarrettsville 7-11 where I cooled my aching feet- they usually swell up on 90 degree days with high humidity. Our average was 16.1 mph and continued to get better as we descented Dance Mill Rd. The traffic on Dulaney Valley Rd picked up forcing us to ride close to the curb where the tarmac was so crumby it could rattle your fillings. I really liked Bob's route through Lutherville and the Ruxton area which led us on roads I've never been on and avoided lots of traffic. Turning onto Falls Rd at 98 miles I bed goodbye to Tiffany as I ascented Smith Ave off of Falls Rd.
I made numerous wrong turns in my attempt to continue onto Smith, 1st going into the Whole Foods parking lot then onto Kelly and then Surgrave Rd. Finally I shouted behind me in traffic  as a good motorist set me straight on my way to Pikesville. I needed to stop again at the top of Slade Ave to ease the pain in my right foot- from prior experiences, in particularly on the Tour de Montes Grandmother ride- my feet swell. I hydrate, sweat but hardly ever go to the bathroom as I retain water. I finally made to Frederick Rd into Catonsville and arrived at my house at 5:00.
My take-home lessons for this tough century )are that Hammer Nutrition Perpetum and Endrolytes really work, drinking ice coffee helps to keep me alert late in the ride and that waht were comfortable shoes at the start of a ride might be too tight at the end of a long hot day.
Stats: 110 miles, 15.4 mph avs, 7:15 saddle time, 3367 calories burnt with 117 AHR.

Bob,
I'll be coming from Catonsville but would like to meet the group along the way. Where's a good place and at what time (Franklintown Rd & Dogwood off of Security)?
Thanks,
Mike
