problem with changing map
Category: Social

Hi,
Mary Ryan and I have posted a Halloween ride for Oct. 26.  The map for ride start shows the incorrect place.  I haven't been able to change it? Would someone give me directions on how to change the marking on the map?

Thanks.
Carole

Forum: Ride Reports

Bob and I had 22 cyclists today.  Great ride.  It did get a little hot and icky on the last 8 miles of the ride. I did have concerns today regarding the safety of the riders.  Information gathered from the riders  prompt me to write reminders to keep every one safe.

Please eat breakfast before undertaking a moderate length ride and maybe bring a little snack.  Todays ride did not have  food or water available until mile 24. For most of us, the ride start was an hour drive.  Add that to 24 miles of cycling and there is no calorie consumption for many hours.

Bring plenty of water.  A can of Red Bull on a hot day with no water could lead to a serious health event.

Happy to say, a serious health event was averted.  I "nagged" everyone into serious rehydration. Everyone finished the ride.

Wind and rain predicted.  Already raining nearby.  Ride cancelled.

Prediction for tomorrow is 80% chance of rain and winds of 18mph in Fulton at ride start time.  I'll be talking with Ken and Bob in the am before we cancel.  Please check the forum for cancellation info.

Weather is looking iffy for Sunday.  Added the Marley Station ride on Sat.  Predicted 20% chance of showers. 26/36 mile options.

Thanks to Evie, Mike, Carol, and Walt.  Great job.  My whole "crew" had a great time.  And finally, no RAIN!

CWC
Category: Social

Thanks to Cindy and all the volunteers.  Great job.  I was approached by many of the cyclists today.  They all said thank you, great event.  One from NY said this was his 2nd CWC and he plans to return next year. He said , not only is this a well done event.  But that all the volunteers are very upbeat .  I received only one complaint. That was from a cyclist that had returned during the brunt of the storm. He was unhappy about the food service.  At that time, I was just glad we still had a tent and food to serve!

Just checked 3 weather sites.  Cloudy, drizzle, showers, Tstorms 90% chance in Davidsonville area.  The ride is cancelled.
Will post again.

Just checked several weather reports.  Excessive heat warning tomorrow.  Heat index in Davidsonville/Deale area, 110 degrees by 11am.  We are cancelling the ride.
Will reschedule when a little bit cooler.
