First 18 and last 15 are very gentle. Six mile climb over South Mountain at mile 18 (very hard-lots of 14% grades) and then a two mile climb back over the another side of the mountain. Mark Tabb says "The six mile climb is one of my favorites and almost traffic free."
2019 revision descends Old Forge to a mile 35 break at Sheetz (preferred stop). Also at mile 40 break in Cascade at Rocky's Pizza or Cafe on MacAfee Hill Rd
